fall fun on the farm!

If you want to pick your own pumpkins, get lost in a corn maze, or just enjoy good clean (or dirty, as the case may be) fun at a farm, then fall is going to be YOUR SEASON.

Here's a round-up of the local farms offering ways to enjoy some beautiful fall weekends.

Legare Farms -- The ninth generation of the Legare family still operates this working farm on Johns Island.  In October, they open the farm on weekends so that visitors can enjoy hayrides, pumpkin picking, and the "Amazin' Maze in Maize"!  Open weekends in October: Fridays 3 pm - 10 pm, Saturdays 10 am - 10 pm, and Sundays 1 pm - 6 pm.  Parking is free, gate admission is $1, and admission to the corn maze is $6 (age 11 and up) and $3 (ages 2-11).  Hayrides out to feed the cattle are $2, and well worth the money.  Getting slobbered on by a cow is good fun!

Boone Hall Plantation -- The fall festival at Boone Hall is huge!  Launch mini pumpkins on the pumpkin shoot, bounce around in the jump castle, and -- of course! -- pick pumpkins (priced per pound) and journey through the scarecrow-shaped corn maize.  General admission is $5.  Open now through November 1, Mon-Sat 9 am - 6 pm and Sundays 12-6 pm.

West Farm -- This farm in Moncks Corner boasts a six acre corn maze with three miles of trails!  They also have the usual fare: pumpkin picking, farm animals, a play area and hay rides. Whereas Boone Hall shoots pumpkins, West Farm slingshots apples!  Admission is $8 (12 and over) and $4 (ages 3 to 11), but you can take $3 off those prices if you don't want to do the maze.  Open weekends in October: Friday 5 - 10 pm, Saturday 12 - 10 pm, and Sunday 2 pm - 10 pm.  Take flashlights if you go after dark.
