Welcome to Savvy Source Charleston!

May 12, 2008

Hey y'all.
Welcome to the brand-spanking new site, Savvy Source Charleston! I'm your host, Nicole, and I'm thrilled to be here with you to share tips, tricks, and traps of the preschool scene throughout the beautiful Lowcountry.

I'm a relative newcomer to Charleston, transplanted here last summer by a move for my husband's career. After a long gypsy phase, something about the sand and sunshine persuaded us to stay, and we've been baptized officially into the South with sweet tea.

My team of collaborators includes my four-year-old daughter, Claire; infant son, Gage; and a whole tribe of awesome people crazy enough to call themselves my friends. Together, we're full of ideas and energy to take advantage of all that the city has to offer for folks with preschool children.

Equipped with an ever-ready diaper bag, enough snacks to feed a small army, and a wanderlust that used to take me overseas but now takes me over bridges, I'm willing to go just about anywhere in search of activities that are both enriching and entertaining. Luckily, there is a lot to see and do in the Lowcountry, and with some creativity, it's not hard to find new adventures (and new ways to enjoy familiar scenes!).

Let's be clear: I'm not here to be unbiased I'm here to be real. If you want sugar-coated tales of smiling kids with tidy rooms and perfect manners, I'll have to politely suggest you go elsewhere. But, if you want the scoop on Charleston from someone who washes glitter glue from her hair and spit-up from her T-shirts, I'm your gal.

I hope you'll find this site to be an excellent resource for your family. Please feel free to send ideas, stories, and feedback to me: beingsavvycharleston (@) savvysource.com.

And as I've quickly realized, Charleston is a small town masquerading as a cosmopolitan city, so if you think you know me or know someone who knows me you probably do. Don't be afraid to tap me on the shoulder and say boo! I promise not to bust out my ninja moves. At least, not until I put down the baby.
